Will the USMNT move on to the next round of the Copa America?

USMNT facing massive Copa America game against Uruguay

The team's back is officially against the wall. On Thursday, the USMNT took on Panama in a game they were heavily favored to come out on top of, but disaster struck for them.

With Tim Weah receiving a red card, Gregg Berhalter and Co. were down to 10 men for the rest of the match and they suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss. However, all hope is not lost, as the red, white and blue have a massive showdown with Uruguay coming on Monday. Will the USMNT be able to keep their Copa America dreams alive?

The USMNT must bounce back against Uruguay in the Copa America

As things stand, the USA is in second place of the Group C table with three points. Because of goal difference, they're just ahead of Panama. However, this is where things get a bit tricky for them.

Panama is taking on Bolivia on Monday, a team they should beat. If Panama gets the job done, they'll finish group play with six points. This would mean that the U.S. would have to also capture three points in their next game.

There's the case where Panama could tie or lose to Bolivia, which would be massive for the U.S. They'd then need to draw or not lose by too many goals to maintain the goal differential advantage.

Having said that, the U.S. can control its own destiny with a win over Uruguay, which won't be easy. The South American giants have looked outstanding throughout the tournament, highlighted by the 5-0 win over Bolivia on Thursday

Darwin Nunez, who plays his club ball for Liverpool FC, has been outstanding. He's reminding people why he's one of the top strikers in South America. He's going to hope to make a statement against the USA too.

However, let's hope that the defense can do its job and keep him quiet for 90 minutes. Come Monday, the USA needs to treat this match with Uruguay as if it's a final. We're confident Berhalter will have his guys fired up for this one and Captain America Christian Pulisic will be in for another great game too.
