Trinity Rodman and Mallory Swanson were the heroes for the USWNT gold medal run

The U.S. Women's National Team went to the Paris Olympics with a dream and they were able to get the job done! In the final, Emma Hayes' squad went to battle with Brazil and things were quite tight.

In the second half, though, star playmaker Mallory Swanson was able to fire an incredible shot into the back of the net. The final score read 1-0. Thanks to Swanson's goal, the red, white and blue were indeed able to take home the gold medal. This is a game and goal that Swanson will never forget. The same can be said about the rest of her teammates:

The USWNT has now won gold at the Olympics five times

You've got to feel extra happy for Swanson. In 2023, she suffered a serious injury that forced her to miss the women's World Cup. It was heartbreaking for her, as she wanted to do everything in her power to try and help the team win it all.

However, she worked her tail off in her rehab and nothing was going to stop her from playing in the Olympics. How amazing is this story for her? It was her shot against Brazil that was able to seal the deal for the Americans.

As for Rodman, goodness, she was downright electric throughout the summer tournament. Rodman scored several incredible goals, perhaps none bigger than her game winner in the quarterfinals against Japan.

In the semifinals, it was Sophia Smith who powered the USA over Germany to book the team's trip to the gold medal game. We know how that story ended. All in all, it was an incredible run for this team. Every single player who donned a U.S. jersey should be proud of what they were able to accomplish.
