After putting on a show for the Netherlands at the World Cup, Gakpo was a wanted man. For a while now, though, it had felt like Manchester United was the favorite to sign him to a big-time contract.
On Monday morning, several reports even stated that talks were intensifying for the Old Trafford side and PSV. Then, out of nowhere, LFC jumped MUFC and the Gakpo move was announced. Holy smokes.

Gakpo is going to be at Anfield for a while, as he has since inked a new six-year deal with the club. This is obviously massive news for Jurgen Klopp and his entire staff.
It has been a bit of a weird year for LFC thus far in 2022, as they're on the outside looking in for the Top 4. There was plenty of hope entering the new season that they'd compete for the title, but that doesn't look like it will happen, as Arsenal and Man City are the favorites.
Despite that, Liverpool could still win the Champions League and adding a player of Gakpo's caliber is only going to help them achieve that goal. What makes this even sweeter is it has broken so many Manchester United fans' hearts.
They thought Gakpo was going to end up playing at the Theatre of Dreams, but Klopp made sure that wouldn't happen.
