Inter Miami star Lionel Messi officially named 2024 MLS MVP

Was there ever any doubt this was going to happen? From the moment legendary soccer star Lionel Messi, arguably the GOAT, announced he'd be signing with Inter Miami, everyone knew he'd be taking the MLS by storm.

While the 2024 campaign didn't go according to plan for Miami, suffering an early postseason loss to Atlanta, that doesn't take away from Messi's brilliant play on the pitch. He was so great, the rest of the league has taken notice. On Friday, Messi was officially named the 2024 MLS MVP, an honor he 100 percent deserved.

The Argentine sensation missed a good chunk of the season due to an ankle injury suffered at the Copa America, but he was unreal to watch during his 19 matches on the field. 

In those contests, Messi scored 20 goals and added 16 assists in those 19 games - those are superb stats for him. Messi recorded some memorable goals, including some world-class free kicks. This should be no surprise, as he's known for his golden left foot. 

The only knock on Messi this season was that he, Luis Suarez and the rest of the club couldn't power Inter Miami to the MLS Cup. Messi is dreaming of helping the team lift that trophy sometime in the near future. 

Even though Miami's season didn't end with the league title, Messi still has a lot to be proud of. He has helped grow the popularity of the MLS all over the world. On a personal level, he was also a major reason why Argentina won the Copa America over the summer.

Whenever Messi is in action, he's a threat to create some serious magic. He was so much fun to watch for Inter Miami this season and fans across the planet can't wait to see him back in action for David Beckham's team in 2025.
