Mahomes already has three Super Bowl rings to his name, but now he's ready to try and post the first three-peat ever in the league. Mahomes has been unreal thus far in the postseason and now there's one more game to come out on top of.
However, the All-Pro signal-caller knows that things are going to be quite tough for him. Why? Because whenever he takes on Vic Fangio, the veteran defensive coordinator has something special drawn up for him. Mahomes knows this will once again be the case, this time with the Lombardi Trophy on the line.
Patrick Mahomes knows Vic Fangio will make life tough on him in the Super Bowl
"Every time I've played coach Fangio, there's been different change-ups and different things that he's thrown at us," Mahomes said via NFL.com. "I think that's what makes him so great is he's not gonna just do exactly what you saw the last time. I'm sure there will be blitzes during the game, I'm sure there will be times where they play coverage. It's gonna be a chess match. But you want to go up against the best and he's one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL. It'll be a great challenge for us as an offense and as a football team."
That's quite the powerful quote from Mahomes and it further shows that he's expecting a see-saw battle in New Orleans. The Chiefs are riding high after taking down the Buffalo Bills in the AFC title game, once again ending Josh Allen's season early.
On the other side of the field, though, the Eagles and Hurts have looked impressive throughout the postseason. Saquon Barkley continues to look like one of the best running backs in the NFL, and he'll be ready to make noise against the Chiefs defense.
As for Mahomes, he's going to be ready to put on a show, while other KC stars will deliver as well. The list no question includes tight end Travis Kelce, who has also stepped his game up in the playoffs.
Kansas City is one win away from accomplishing what no other team in the NFL before them has been able to get done. Should the three-peat get posted, Mahomes is going to have to be at his best. Chiefs fans are confident he'll deliver and have no issues in overcoming what Fangio and the Philly defense send his way. Soon enough, we'll see how things go down here.
