After losing to Germany in the final in 2014, Messi is now headed back to the title game on Sunday, as Argentina took down Croatia on Tuesday in the first semifinal. Messi opened the scoring from the penalty spot and the South American side never looked back.

After that goal from Messi, Argentina doubled its lead thanks to a truly sensational run and finish from young striker Julian Alvarez, who then made things 3-0 in the second half with another great finish, set up by Messi.
Croatia tried its best to record a miracle comeback in the final 45 minutes of action, but it wasn't there. Now, Argentina will sit back and wait to see who comes out on top in the other semifinal on Wednesday, with France and Morocco set to go to battle.
France is considered the heavy favorite to move on to take on Argentina, but don't forget that Morocco has recorded several stunning upsets thus far in the tournament.
Regardless of who Argentina plays, the stage is set for Messi. After helping Argentina win the Copa America last summer, he now has his eyes on another international trophy for the blue and white team.
Winning the World Cup is his only main goal left on his list. Messi has won it all - but that World Cup title is still something he's only been able to dream of. Come Sunday, we'll see if that dream comes true, or if another nightmare is on the way for arguably the best player ever.
